In Richard Adams' Watership Down, hombil means foxes in Lapine (i.e. the language spoken by rabbits).
As you probably guessed, I am fond of canids and foxes in particular, and this page is devoted to my best-loved Sylvanian families. My collecting goal is to acquire all their variants.
Enjoy your stay and meet my favourite families: the Honey and Renard foxes and the Huckleberry dogs.
More bits of my collection, including other animal families, can be seen in this gallery.
The Renards are the most attractive and realistic-looking of all Sylvanian foxes, in my opinion. I love the black marks on their faces and their bushy tails.
I actually own two different Renard families. One is the standard UK family that came as a set, with mother, father, boy and girl, and their standing twins which were sold separately. I also acquired a variant to the girl from Hong Kong, which is wearing a pink skirt (as opposed to the other wearing a blue one). The other family is wearing alternate outfits and members came with playsets. The father came with a do-it-yourself playset, while the mother came with the interior decorator set. Both children came with a camping set. I believe the babies (a crawling baby girl and a sitting baby boy) came with a UK playset but I don't have much information about them.
I'm missing a second set of Renard twins (a crawling baby boy and a sitting baby girl) that came with a carousel-like playset.
Other than outfits, the main difference between these groups of figures is that the black marks painted on their faces are slightly different in design.

The Honey fox family
The Honey fox family was known as new Slydale family for some time. I suspect their are still called new Slydales in the US, in fact. This is definitely the family of which I own most variants, due to the many different reissues of the babies, in Japan and elsewhere.
My basic Honey fox family includes the Japanese members: mother, father, boy, girl and three babies in their pretty knitted outfits (standing, sitting and crawling).
I also acquired a US set of babies - a sitting baby with feeding bottle and a crawling baby with pacifier, and recently the UK standing baby boy and baby girl.
